What you can do to get a great Fall look working for you
whether living in your home or selling it...

Over the last 6 years I have been teaching a professional 5 day home staging and redesign course. Many of you have taken advantage of my 'free' training home offer to have your home transformed in just one day, using your things. All of you have been ecstatic with the changes and I wanted to share some of those makeovers with you this month and talk about...
The fall is officially here and home owners and buyers look for more 'comfort' in homes since we will all be spending more time indoors. There are many 'little touches' that we can do to make our homes feel cozier, warmer and comforting.
- If you have rolled your area rugs up for summer now is the time to bring them out. Consider putting them in a different room this year.
- Soft textures bring a lot of comfort and coziness to any room. Chenille and other soft fabric throws make a huge impact in warming a room up.
- Change your focal point for fall and winter months; for example in summer you may decide that you have a terrific view and you love to sit and look out, for fall and winter your fireplace may become the main focal point.
- Try rearranging your furniture in your rooms and base the arrangement on the function in each room.
- Many people like to have a different seasonal look and do this by changing their art and accessories. This is a great time to do that!

Master bedrooms are particularly important whether you are living in, or selling your home. If you only have one bedroom then that one bedroom should be treated as the master bedroom. As much as possible for living or selling, your bedroom needs to be your haven and one of the more beautiful rooms in your home.
- Texture plays a key role in the coziness of a bedroom; choose bedding that feels good to the touch; soft, luxurious throws and cushions can be used on beds and on chairs
- Soft lighting and candles can create a mood of safety and security in a bedroom
- Area rugs can warm up the floor for the colder days and nights to come; try switching up your area rugs from room to room
- In fall many stores have bedding on sale so take advantage of good prices to switch to your 'winter' look
